I started working from home in August 2005. Talk about scam city LOL You REALLY had to be on your toes back in those days, as working from home was basically unheard of!! I was called a liar more than once when I would tell people my only income was made in my home office taking calls. I took a chance and paid $75 for a work at home class to get a certificate in working from home and a job list of wah (work at home) companies to apply to. It took a minute or two lol But, that gamble did absolutely pay off!!! My husband swearing on everything I was being scammed and just losing my $75. Glad he was wrong lol I have worked for a LOT of companies since then. Many no longer even exist. But I have never been scammed! Never! I can spot a scam from 10 miles away! First thing you look for is the email! It should be a paid company email. Not a free email such as yahoo or gmail. Second thing you look for is the pay. If it is really high, RUN!! $50 an hour plus lol In reality, MOST entry level jobs are going to pay around $15 an hour today on average. Most a little less. If you are going for an IC (Independent Contractor) then you can expect to pay for a back ground check and have to buy the equipment they require if you don't already have it. This is legitimate. However, they can NOT say you have to buy from a specific place. You can buy the equipment from anywhere and it is yours to keep of course. As an employee, you pay NOTHING up front! The employrer pays for the back ground check. They may provide equipment to you, but you may have to provide your own equipment. In that case, same applies. You can buy from wherever you want and it's yours to keep for future use. The next thing is what I call the "am sh!t" club!! Watch for broken English. They are too stupid to speak English as good as someone whose native language is English. We do NOT say, am good, am going to bed, am starting work. We just do NOT talk like that!! If the so called "employer" is, it is a 1000% SCAM!!! No IFS about it! RUN!! Good advice on avoiding scams in this video. I can NOT for the life of me understand HOW people fall for this stuff. I just can't. Somebody is going to send you money for you to send back to them??? HOW does that even make a little bit of sense? lol That's like me saying I need to borrow $10 so here is $20 for you to give me $10 and you can keep the exrtra? REALLY??!! umm NO!! and the MAIN thing I live by!! If it seems or sounds too good to be true, it IS!! Not probably is, or maybe is, It 100%IS too good to be true!! RUN!!!

Hi Heather. Thank you for the video. I have one question, though. About the free ATS-compatible resume thatbyou have shown around the mark 5:11, are the section headers a 1x1 table or simply typed and underlined text? I ask, cos from what i have heard, tables are not read well by ATSs.

To recruiters, know that using ATS might feel like an intelligent move, but it is not. Earlier, when such a system was not being used, lot of people who may not have been a 100% match, however, had great skills and potential could be hired. But now with the ATS, a system with pre-defined criteria is deciding whether to pass a candidate or not. This is stupid and ineffective. Now a lot of people who may do a great job in a position despite lack of "credentials"/"degrees" are umable to get a job cos there is no competent human at the other end who may have the wisdom to see the potential of that candidate and give them a chance!!

Please advise how I can get rid of it! LinkedIn is just as bad as Tinder; fake profiles, CVs that are incorrect, no one responds. offers of jobs that are beyond my capabilities. Tells candidate, we are still interviewing other candidates BUT DO NOT WORRY, you will hear from HR IN couple of days 4. Calls ends with appreciating candidate taking time to give interview.
